Flight Attendant Fired for Blogging
Joi Ito points to this interview by the BBC with a woman who was fired from Delta Airlines because she posted photos of herself in uniform on her blog. (She was originally just suspended, but now has been fired.) Join me in telling Delta that this stinks:
She’s filed a complaint with the EEOC. Let’s hope things work out for her. I also cancelled my friendster account when they fired an employee for blogging. Telling a company you’re irritated with their practices can work. Just this week Nintendo went into PR-salvage mode after an attorney misfired on their behalf. The attorney had sent a cease and desist letter to a Nintendo fan’s site that merely listed off their favorite Nintendo games. Both the fan and the site’s operator ended up with an apology, a free game system and a free game of their choice!
